Rocher Rouge, Jersey — Axis Mason

Perched above Ouaisné Bay on the island of Jersey, Rocher Rouge by Axis Mason is a striking piece of contemporary architecture defined by strong horizontality, sculptural massing, and an acute sensitivity to its coastal setting. The home is formed from layers of stone, metal, and glass that echo the geological textures of the site, grounding the building in the rugged landscape while creating a refined, minimalist residence.

Lakes Doors Architectural, specialists in luxury architectural doors in Jersey and across the UK, were commissioned to supply and install a suite of bespoke entrance solutions that reflect both the architectural precision and understated luxury of the scheme. The brief from Axis Mason was clear: the doors had to feel integral to the architecture—subtle, sculptural, and seamlessly engineered.

At the main entrance, an Oikos Tekno door with two full-height sidelights forms a balanced composition within the stone-clad façade. The side and plant room entrances also feature Oikos Tekno doors, each crowned with a louvred transom, maintaining visual rhythm across the elevations. All three doors incorporate concealed hinges for a seamless aesthetic, combined with Arkey biometric locking and integrated CEG flush handles for effortless functionality and modern security.

Every door was finished in a custom Alublack tone—developed specifically to match a colour sample provided by Axis Mason. The matt, lightly textured finish mirrors the tone and tactility of the surrounding slate and zinc materials, allowing the doors to blend harmoniously with the architecture until revealed by shifting light. The result is a series of entrances that feel like extensions of the architecture itself.

Completing the composition, a Silvelox Secur garage door was installed in the same bespoke Alublack finish. Set between walls, it continues the clean geometry of the façade and unites visual and technical performance in one cohesive design. Like the Oikos doors, the Silvelox system combines precision engineering, architectural integration, and security without compromise.

Throughout the process, Lakes Doors Architectural worked closely with Axis Mason to align both the visual language and performance of each element with the broader architectural intent. Every junction, reveal, and proportion was carefully refined to ensure lasting durability in Jersey’s coastal environment and to preserve the home’s minimalist purity.

The completed Rocher Rouge captures the essence of contemporary coastal living—elegant, restrained, and tactile. The entrance doors, subtle yet highly engineered, contribute quietly but critically to the architectural narrative of the house: a home where precision detailing defines the experience of space and light.
