Cersaie 2019 – Ceramic Doors

As the amount and versatility of finishes increases on architectural doors ceramics have become a important for high end doors. Lakes Doors Architectural visited the Cersaie 2019 exhibition, one of the largest ceramic exhibitions to see the latest offerings.

Since our installation of the UK’s first porcelain pivot door on our Sevendials project the demand for ceramic doors has grown. Although still a popular choice we have seen porcelain overtake timber as the most purchased finish for luxury entrance doors. The main reason for this is durability as the porcelain slabs don’t fade or deteriorate like timber can.

Our Oikos doors are made using Laminam porcelain slabs and both brands exhibited at Cersaie 2019. At the Laminam stand we were able to how vast their range of styles is. In this quick moving industry Laminam stay at the forefront with both style and performance.

Oikos had an impressive stand which shows how they are at the cutting edge of door design and entrance systems. They had two main products; one door with Laminam to both sides and one with natural marble. We loved the marble from leading brand Antolini who produce the Irish Green finish. Architect Andrea Laudini designed the stunning exhibition space.

Oikos’ new finger scanner that uses similar technology to the iPhone was also on display. The built in scanner is programmed with your smart phone, we expect this will be an important and much requested feature.
