Luxury Panic Room Doors

Panic Room Doors

Panic room doors create the entrance to a secure room. However, this does not have to be an ugly space. Markedly our doors look as good as they perform. Thus being secure and luxurious.

Generally people don’t have specific panic rooms. Rather typical residential spaces that are more secure than the rest of the house. For instance the master bedroom. After all, this cuts out the time it takes to get to another room during a break-in.

A panic room door is a secure internal door. Moreover it creates a safe space in the event of a break-in. Our preferred door is Oikos Project. Specifically designed as an internal use security door. Oikos have a vast range of finishes to choose from. As well as the ability to match or create custom finishes. In addition to the aesthetic qualities, Oikos doors have strong security credentials. Class 3 as standard, enough to hold off a determined intruder.

Another key point of Oikos Project is electronic locking. Due to the popularity of home automation, this is a common option. Also, it has the great advantage of fully locking the door whenever it’s closed. Additionally, operation can be via finger print, key card or smartphone. All programmable with Oikos Arkey smartphone app.

Fire rated versions of panic room doors are possible. Because often they are required for building regulations. Or, sometimes they are chosen purely for piece of mind.

Particularly important is panic room doors can match your other general doors. Furthermore if you are buying Garofoli doors from us, Garofoli will make the faces to suit the panic door. Without doubt this gives great continuity. Alternatively Oikos can match your existing doors.

Crittall Style Internal Doors

Crittall Style Internal Doors

Gidea have released Crittall style internal doors into their G-Like range. Due to the popularity of the Crittall style of glazed door this is a trend we see lasting.

Crittall style refers to the placement of horizontal and/or vertical bars on glazed doors, screens and windows made from metal. The reason being Crittall Windows first made the style popular. Also steel style and industrial style describe this look of door or screen.

See a project using traditional Crittall

For Crittall style internal doors we always recommend the G-Like product. Because G-Like is extruded aluminium they make a very strong and rigid door leaf. Consequently the opening and closing of the door is of exceptional quality.

Most similar to the traditional Crittall style are the Cross and Line. As the name suggests Cross has lines that ‘cross’, Line has only horizontal lines. Furthermore, customised designs are available.

Likewise with all G-Like doors these new additions to the range are available as hinged, pocket and sliding versions. Particularly in sliding versions very large doors are possible – up to 1500mm X 2900mm. Even more impressive and on trend is sliding and static doors combined, creating room dividers.

Above all black is the most popular choice for industrial style internal doors. However other colours are becoming more requested. Specifically bronze is becoming much more requested. Gidea anodised bronze gives a luxurious feel making these doors feel even more special. In addition to black and bronze any RAL colour is possible.

We are exhibiting with Silvelox luxury garage doors in Harrogate 1-3 November 2019 at Harrogate Convention Centre stand B439

We are partnering again with with Silvelox for the 2019 exhibition where we will be showing one of Silvelox’s luxury garage doors in Harrogate. The door this year will be a Secur Plus, the prestigious manufacturer’s top offering. Secur Plus is an upgraded version of their most popular and well known product Secur. The flagship model has all the high end features of the standard model such as an integrated motor without ceiling tracks, hidden pedestrian door and 85mm thick hardwood panels. Furthermore it has an improved insulation kit and Class 3 security which is what really sets the Secur Plus apart.

The style of the garage door is the Random design which features vertical strips of differing thicknesses. Certainly it’s styles like the Random that give this contemporary aesthetic that are currently the most popular. Due to this trend in 2019 Silvelox have released two new modern designs called Millerighe and Newman. Millerighe which translates to’thousand lines’ is made up of many small equally spaced horizontal or vertical strips. Similarly modern Newman has randomly spaced horizontal and vertical grooves. Constant innovation and commitment to design is what’s kept Silvelox as the world’s leading luxury garage door manufacturer.

Cersaie 2019 – Ceramic Doors

As the amount and versatility of finishes increases on architectural doors ceramics have become a important for high end doors. Lakes Doors Architectural visited the Cersaie 2019 exhibition, one of the largest ceramic exhibitions to see the latest offerings.

Since our installation of the UK’s first porcelain pivot door on our Sevendials project the demand for ceramic doors has grown. Although still a popular choice we have seen porcelain overtake timber as the most purchased finish for luxury entrance doors. The main reason for this is durability as the porcelain slabs don’t fade or deteriorate like timber can.

Our Oikos doors are made using Laminam porcelain slabs and both brands exhibited at Cersaie 2019. At the Laminam stand we were able to how vast their range of styles is. In this quick moving industry Laminam stay at the forefront with both style and performance.

Oikos had an impressive stand which shows how they are at the cutting edge of door design and entrance systems. They had two main products; one door with Laminam to both sides and one with natural marble. We loved the marble from leading brand Antolini who produce the Irish Green finish. Architect Andrea Laudini designed the stunning exhibition space.

Oikos’ new finger scanner that uses similar technology to the iPhone was also on display. The built in scanner is programmed with your smart phone, we expect this will be an important and much requested feature.

Lakes Doors Architectural is please to announce that we have won an award from the CV Magazine Business Innovator Awards 2019. The award is for ‘Best Garage Doors Supply & Installation Company – Northern England’.

Working with architects and designers in the UK we push the boundaries of our suppliers to provide design led luxury garage doors. Working closely with Silvelox we are able to provide garage doors and cladding systems to make up an integral part of the building design. Most often the garage door ends up looking like an after thought rather than a design element and this is something we are working hard to change.
